Royal Windsor Horse Show Delights the Queen

The Queen was beaming with joy as she opted for a casual look in a gilet at the Royal Windsor Horse Show this morning.

Behind the wheel of her Range Rover, Her Majesty drove herself from Windsor Castle to the showground, showcasing her independence and love for the event.

Known to be one of her preferred royal engagements, the Queen graced the occasion a day after hosting German Chancellor Angela Merkel at Windsor Castle.

Amidst the vibrant atmosphere, horses and ponies, including some of the Queen’s own, took center stage as they competed in various classes.

The Queen’s infectious laughter and radiant smiles filled the showground as the ponies made their grand entrance.

At 95 years old, the Queen exuded relaxation in a white shirt paired with a navy padded gilet, complemented by a lively green cardigan and cotton skirt.

With a rich history of attending the show spanning decades, the Queen’s passion for equestrian events dates back to her teenage years.

In 1943, she clinched the first prize for driving a utility vehicle harness to her Blackfell pony, a triumph she repeated the following year.

Last year’s cancellation of the show due to the pandemic only heightened the anticipation for this year’s in-person event.

Following her delightful time at the horse show, the Queen warmly welcomed Mrs. Merkel for their final meeting during the Chancellor’s UK visit.

Earlier in the day, Mrs. Merkel engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Boris Johnson at Chequers before sharing a momentous meeting with the Queen.

Their paths had crossed previously during the G7 leaders’ summit in Cornwall, where the Queen graciously hosted a reception for the foreign dignitaries at the Eden Project.
