Royal Team: George and Amal Clooney Stand by King Charles at Prince’s Trust Awards
When rifts as deep as the one between Prince Harry and Meghan and the Royal Family emerge, friends often find themselves compelled to pick a side.
It seems that George and Amal Clooney have made their allegiance clear by attending the Prince's Trust Awards on Tuesday.
The event is championed by King Charles himself and stands as one of his most significant charitable accomplishments.
A source at the ceremony hinted that the Clooneys aim to maintain good relations with the King and the Royal Family, while still valuing their connection with the Sussexes based in California.
Notably, the Hollywood star and his wife, a prominent lawyer and activist, have not been seen publicly with Harry and Meghan since the royal wedding in Windsor back in 2018.
Meghan was notably absent when the Clooneys introduced a humanitarian award in New York last September.
The couple extended invitations to showbiz acquaintances, including British actress Phoebe DeVener from the hit series “Bridgerton,” for the launch of the Albie Awards, named in honor of South African Justice Albie Sachs for his anti-apartheid efforts.
Among the esteemed guests at the event were fashion icon Donatella Versace, acclaimed actresses Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, singer Dua Lipa, journalist Gayle King, and many more.
Following the ceremony, a lavish party took place at the penthouse suite of the Mark Hotel.
Interestingly, this venue was where Meghan hosted her extravagant baby shower for Archie in February 2019, an event attended by Amal who graciously offered her a ride back to Britain on the Clooney's private jet.
Surprisingly, Meghan and Harry were absent from the guest list despite the occasion falling outside the Queen's mourning period.
In a previous interview, George Clooney expressed his friendship with Harry and Meghan, emphasizing that they share common reasons for camaraderie.
He also publicly defended Meghan against the harsh media scrutiny she faced, drawing parallels between her treatment and that of Princess Diana.
However, since then, the Clooneys have maintained silence regarding their friendship with the couple residing in Montecito.
At the Prince's Trust Awards, discussions revolved around King Charles' upcoming coronation, an event that Meghan opted not to attend.
Meanwhile, Yotam Erlanghi, a renowned London restaurateur and author with Israeli roots, shared insights into his unconventional upbringing during an episode of Ruth Rogers' Table 4 podcast.
Erlanghi recounted growing up in a secular Jewish household where pork, typically forbidden, was surreptitiously consumed.
His mother, hailing from Germany, would discreetly purchase ham from a Jerusalem butcher, disguising it as turkey to avoid breaking dietary rules.
This childhood experience offered a glimpse into Erlanghi's eclectic background shaped by diverse cultural influences.
