King Charles III is reportedly considering a significant change to the law governing who can serve as councillors of state, a move that could lead to a major shake-up within the royal family.

However, under the 1937 Regency Act, they, along with , are currently designated as three of the five councillors of state who can step in to fulfill constitutional obligations in the event of the monarch's incapacity or absence.

This includes tasks such as attending Privy Council meetings, signing routine documents, and receiving new ambassadors to the UK.

Despite their current roles, Prince Harry, , and could face losing their positions if King Charles III proceeds with his rumored plan to amend the law governing councillors of state.
