Princess Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, had to abide by strict rules following the births of her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The royal protocol required her to delay sharing the happy news with her parents and friends until informing the current monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, first.

This tradition was followed after the births of all three royal children.

In 2013, when Prince George was born at St Mary's Hospital, Kate and Prince William were obligated to inform Queen Elizabeth before anyone else.
