Royal Glamour: Princess Catherine Shines in Historic Tiara at State Banquet

In a display of regal elegance, the Princess of Wales graced the extravagant state banquet welcoming the President and First Lady of South Korea to the UK with a stunning choice of headpiece.

Princess Catherine opted for a 100-year-old tiara, the Strathmore Rose, a piece steeped in history and royal tradition.

This marked the first time the dazzling tiara adorned her head, having previously been worn by the Queen Mother almost a century ago.

A notable departure from the past was Princess Catherine's unique styling of the tiara, positioning the floral diamond design two inches back from her hairline.

This contrasted with her husband's great-grandmother, who wore the tiara across her forehead back in 1923.

When questioned about this change, Carol Wollton, an expert in jewels, attributed it to comfort, highlighting the weight and discomfort associated with such ornate pieces.

Accompanied by her husband , as well as and Queen , Princess Catherine made a grand entrance at Buckingham Palace.

Her ensemble included a Jenny Packham gown, diamond drop earrings belonging to , and the family order and GCVO sash and star.

However, it was her choice of the Strathmore Rose tiara that truly stole the spotlight, a gift to the Queen Mother from her parents in 1923.

Josie Goodbody, a jewelry editor, shed light on the historical significance of the bandeau style favored in the 1920s, exemplified by the Duchess of York wearing the tiara low on her forehead.

Originally purchased from London dealer Catchpole and Williams in the late 19th century, the tiara's floral design can be detached and worn as brooches, offering versatility in styling.

The reintroduction of the Strathmore Rose tiara holds particular significance, given Princess Catherine's limited tiara appearances since joining the royal family.

Known for her previous choices, including the Cambridge Lover's knot tiara and the Cartier Halo tiara for her wedding day, the Princess of Wales has now added another iconic piece to her collection.

The Lotus Flower tiara, a creation from a diamond and pearl necklace gifted to the Queen Mother in 1923, showcases her evolving style and appreciation for royal heirlooms.

In a nod to tradition and a celebration of timeless elegance, Princess Catherine continues to captivate with her sartorial choices, infusing modern flair into historic jewels.

The royal spectacle at the state banquet not only honored diplomatic ties but also showcased the enduring allure of heritage pieces worn with grace and sophistication.
