Royal Farewell: Cambridge Children Bid Adieu to Battersea School

Prince George and have officially said their goodbyes to Thomas's Battersea, the prestigious school they've attended in southwest London.

As they prepare for a new chapter at Lambrook School in Windsor this September, the local community is feeling the impact of their departure.

Residents and businesses alike are expressing sadness over the exit of the young royals from their neighborhood.

The charming Thomas's Battersea is situated adjacent to Battersea Square, an area known for its delightful al fresco dining options that could easily be mistaken for a European café scene.

Among the local gems are the popular crepe spot, Suzette, and the vibrant cocktail bar, Vinos y Lycoris.

These establishments have become accustomed to the royal presence, making the transition even more poignant for local business owners.

In a delightful twist, MyLondon reached out to Gales Bakery, a beloved fixture in the area, to see if they had ever spotted the Duchess of Cambridge during school runs.

To the bakery staff's delight, they confirmed that Kate has indeed made appearances.

Dominika Lipiak, a customer assistant at Gales, recounted a memorable moment when a parent excitedly shared that their child was in the same class as Prince George.

Gales Bakery has welcomed Kate on at least two occasions, often after she picked up George from school.

On one of those visits, accompanied her mother.

When asked about Kate's favorite treat, the bakery staff revealed that she has a penchant for their chocolate brownie finger, a delectable offering priced at £2.40.

This sweet indulgence has become a popular choice among parents who frequent the bakery after school pick-up.

Founded in 2005, Gales Bakery has expanded significantly since its humble beginnings in Hampstead High Street.

With 79 locations now serving neighborhoods across London, Oxford, and Brighton, Gales is renowned for its fresh, handmade bread, pastries, and cakes.

However, the Battersea branch has garnered mixed reviews, earning three stars on TripAdvisor.

While some customers rave about the friendly staff, others have criticized the prices, with one reviewer calling it “daylight robbery” for a mere spoonful of avocado.

Prince George began his journey at Thomas's Battersea in 2017, followed by Princess Charlotte in 2019.

Their younger brother, , never attended the school, having just completed his time at Wilcox Nursery School in Kensington.

With their move to Lambrook School imminent, the sight of the three young royals at Gales Bakery will likely become a cherished memory for the locals.

The prestigious Lambrook School, where the Cambridge children will soon enroll, is conveniently located near their new four-bedroom home.

The fees for this elite institution range from £4,000 to £7,000 per term, depending on the child's age, reflecting the high standards expected at such a school.

As the family transitions to their new routine, it's reported that will be responsible for driving his children to school each morning.

This change marks a significant shift in their daily lives, but the family remains committed to embracing this new chapter.

Kensington Palace issued a heartfelt statement expressing gratitude to Thomas's Battersea for the positive experiences George and Charlotte have enjoyed during their time there.
