Royal Family Feud: Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s Alleged Dispute Over Loyalties
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, are reportedly at odds over their loyalties to their cousin Prince Harry and their uncle King Charles.
The sisters, often referred to as the York sisters, are known for their close bond within the Royal Family.
However, recent developments suggest a rift between them stemming from the ongoing disagreements between the royal family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Sources have revealed that Beatrice attempted to caution Eugenie about her support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Allegedly, Beatrice felt sidelined after not being chosen to stand on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Coronation Day, a decision believed to be influenced by Eugenie's backing of the Sussexes.
Eugenie, on the other hand, has publicly expressed her favor towards Prince Harry and Meghan, even residing in Frogmore Cottage, the Sussexes' former residence.
The 33-year-old princess has further solidified her alliance with Harry by appearing in the couple's Netflix series and visiting them at their new home in California.
This closeness suggests that she may stand by Harry when he returns to London alone on May 6th to attend the coronation.
In contrast, Beatrice is said to align herself with King Charles III and Prince William, signaling a divide within the family.
Despite not being a working royal, Beatrice holds the title of Counsellor of State, granting her the authority to undertake formal duties such as opening the British Parliament in the absence of King Charles.
Her relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II, whom she was close to, is evident through her choice to wear one of the Queen's vintage gowns at her wedding to Edoardo Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi in 2020.
Currently ninth in line to the British throne, Beatrice's recent addition of a daughter, Sienna, has pushed Eugenie down to the 11th spot in the line of succession.
With discussions surrounding the need to expand the number of working royals to fulfill public engagements across the UK and the Commonwealth, Beatrice emerges as a potential candidate to take on a more active role within the royal family.
As the elderly cousins of Queen Elizabeth II age, the number of working royals paid by the Crown is expected to decrease from the current count of 11 to seven in the near future.
With Kate and William's children still years away from assuming such responsibilities, King Charles III faces the challenge of maintaining a robust roster of working royals to uphold the monarchy's duties effectively.
