Royal Ascot 2021: Peter Leads Carriage Procession with Prince Charles and Camilla
Peter, the Queen's eldest grandchild, made a grand entrance at Royal Ascot by leading the first carriage procession since 2019.
Alongside him in the first carriage were Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
Dressed in a sleek dark grey suit and a top hat that matched his uncle's attire, Peter exuded regal elegance.
Camilla complemented the ensemble in a turquoise dress adorned with a hat featuring delicate floral decorations.
Accompanying Peter's mother, Princess Anne, in the procession were notable figures including Lord de Morley, the Queen's Master of the Horse, as well as William Nunnerley and Caroline Nunnerley, one of Anne's ladies-in-waiting.
The second carriage housed four of Her Majesty's cousins – the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
Meanwhile, the third carriage saw the Earl and Countess of Hopeton, Tom Hopper, and Lady Alexandra Hopper, who is Princess Diana's goddaughter.
As the carriages gracefully passed by the racecourse's parade ring, eager racegoers who had been gathering since noon caught a glimpse of the royal procession.
Among the distinguished attendees were members of the royal family such as Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
Known for her fondness for Ascot, Princess Beatrice is expected to grace the racecourse with her presence on multiple occasions during the event.
While the Queen opted not to attend the races on this particular day, sources close to the royal family revealed her keen interest in watching her horses compete throughout the week.
Speculation arose that Her Majesty might make an appearance outside her residence in the coming days to witness the races firsthand.
