At the time, they were living in a rented home near the Rosnega resort in Anglesey, Wales, while William was busy working as a search and rescue pilot.

They weren't yet fully immersed in royal duties, allowing Kate to enjoy a more down-to-earth lifestyle.

During this period, Kate often frequented local shops, blending into the community.

She was spotted at the grocery store and even a nearby water sports shop.

However, it was a visit to Fun Sport that would lead to an unforgettable encounter.

On this particular day, Kate had her sights set on purchasing a wetsuit.

Unfortunately, she made a small oversight—she forgot her suitcase, which contained her money.

When she approached the counter to reserve the wetsuit for later pickup, the shopkeeper, Dave Buckland, asked for her name.

In a playful nod to her royal title, she jokingly referred to herself as “Mr.

Cambridge.”

Little did she know, Buckland didn't recognize her.

He looked right at her and commented on her unusual last name, completely oblivious to the fact that he was speaking to a princess.
