Princess Eugenie’s Family Mourns the Loss of Father-in-law George Brooksbank
The royal family is facing a period of mourning as Princess Eugenie's father-in-law, George Brooksbank, has passed away just days before the christening of her baby son, August.
The tragic news was revealed today by Mail Online, shedding light on the somber circumstances surrounding the event.
George Brooksbank, 72, breathed his last in the week leading up to August's baptism at the All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park, a ceremony graced by the presence of the Queen herself.
According to a Royal Insider who spoke to Mail Online, George had been battling health issues ever since his encounter with Covid last year, which left a lasting impact on his well-being.
The insider mentioned that Jack, Eugenie's husband, had been struggling emotionally, having to cope with the loss of his father just before the significant event.
Despite the heartbreak, both Eugenie and Jack decided to proceed with the christening, putting on a brave front amidst their grief.
The christening was attended not only by the Queen but also by Eugenie's parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, along with other senior royals, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
However, it remains uncertain whether Jack's mother, Nicola, was able to gather the strength to be present during the poignant occasion.
The untimely demise of Mr. Brooksbank cast a shadow over the royal family just before the double christening of the Queen's two great-grandsons, August and Lucas Tindall, son of Sarah and Mike Tindall.
August, the first child of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, holds a special place in the hearts of both families as their first grandchild.
Being the ninth great-grandchild of the Queen, August is positioned as the thirteenth in line to the throne, adding another branch to the royal lineage.
George Brooksbank's health had been fragile ever since his battle with coronavirus last April, which led to a challenging recovery process, leaving him in a serious but stable condition.
Before the pandemic struck, George, a retired chartered accountant and company director, split his time between his residences in Wandsworth, South London, and Bordeaux, France, alongside his wife of 36 years, Nicola.
The couple faced a tumultuous period when both George and Nicola contracted Covid, with George's condition deteriorating to the point where he had to be put on a ventilator for five weeks.
Fortunately, he managed to overcome the life-threatening ordeal and was discharged from the hospital in June.
The Brooksbanks had previously celebrated the union of Jack and Eugenie in a grand wedding ceremony at St George's Chapel, Windsor, back in 2018.
