Princess Eugenie Shares First Photo of Newborn Son
Princess Eugenie has delighted royal fans by sharing the first glimpse of her and husband Jack Brooksbank's newborn son.
The new mum, who welcomed her baby on Tuesday, 9 February, took to her personal Instagram account to reveal a touching black-and-white photo.
The image captures Eugenie and Jack's hands tenderly clasping their son's tiny arm, accompanied by three blue heart emojis.
The newest addition to the royal family made his entrance into the world on Tuesday morning, weighing a healthy 8lbs 1oz.
An official announcement from the palace confirmed the joyous news, stating that Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie safely delivered her son at 0855 DRS at the Portland Hospital, with Jack Brooksbank by her side throughout the birth.
The royal statement further disclosed that key members of the royal family, including The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, were promptly informed of the birth and expressed their delight.
This marks Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's first child, bringing immense joy as the Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York become first-time grandparents, while the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh welcome their ninth great-grandchild.
Despite Princess Eugenie's royal status as Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York, it is noted that her son will not inherit a title, as titles are typically inherited through the male line, and Jack Brooksbank does not hold a royal title.
The couple is anticipated to raise their newborn at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, the former residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Additionally, Eugenie's parents, Andrew and Sarah, who reside together at Royal Lodge despite being divorced, are conveniently located nearby and are sure to offer support and assistance with their new grandchild.
The pregnancy was publicly announced by Eugenie and Jack in September 2020, with a heartwarming Instagram post featuring the princess holding a pair of teddy bear slippers.
The couple, who tied the knot at St George's Chapel in Windsor on 12 October 2018 after a decade of courtship, are now relishing their newfound roles as parents.
Traditionally, royal parents take a few days to announce the name of their newborn.
Notably, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed their son Archie's name two days after his birth in May 2019.
In contrast, Princess Beatrice's name was revealed by Prince Andrew and Sarah two weeks after her birth in 1988, while the Queen waited a month before announcing Prince Charles' name in 1948.
