Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank Welcome Son, August Philip Orke Brooksbank
Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, have joyfully announced the name of their newborn son as August Philip Orke Brooksbank, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace.
Born on February 9th at London's Portland Hospital, the son of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson is now 11th in line to the British throne.
The couple, beaming with happiness, were spotted leaving the hospital just three days after the birth on February 12th.
In a heartwarming gesture, the new mother shared the name of their son today along with the first family portrait featuring the Queen's ninth great-grandchild.
The photograph, believed to have been taken at Frogmore Cottage where the family currently resides, was posted by Princess Eugenie on Instagram.
Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of well-wishes, she wrote, “Thank you for so many wonderful messages.
Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express.
We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.”
The choice of the name August holds significant meaning for the royal couple.
While not a traditional British royal name, it has roots in the German hereditary royal line, tracing back to Queen Victoria.
August, derived from Latin, means ‘great,' reflecting the couple's admiration and respect.
Additionally, the middle name Philip serves as a heartfelt tribute to Princess Eugenie's grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, known for his unwavering dedication to the monarchy.
The inclusion of the name Hawke in their son's name came as a surprise to many, as it pays homage to Reverend Edward Hawke Brooksbank, a respected ancestor in Jack's lineage.
Despite not being a frontrunner in predictions, the name Hawke adds a personal touch to the newborn's identity, honoring the legacy of Jack's family heritage.
