Princess Catherine Honors Mental Health with Meaningful Earrings
On World Mental Health Day, Princess Catherine made a poignant statement by choosing to wear a pair of special earrings that carry deep significance.
As she and Prince William hosted the Royal Foundation event titled “Exploring Our Emotional Worlds,” her choice of jewelry was a heartfelt nod to mental health awareness.
Catherine's outfit was striking yet simple, featuring a bright yellow jacket paired with a classic black top and trousers.
However, it was the earrings that truly captured attention.
These gold-plated star-shaped pieces were a gift from Sarah Renton, a coach from the Maidenhead rugby club.
The earrings, named Issy Star, were created in memory of Renton's daughter, Isabel Phipps, who tragically died by suicide earlier this year.
The design of the earrings comes from Sophie McGown, Phipps' cousin and the owner of Earsas.
Notably, a portion of the proceeds from these earrings goes directly to the mental health charity Brave Minds, making them not just a piece of jewelry but a symbol of hope and support for mental health initiatives.
Catherine first received the earrings back in June during a visit to the Maidenhead rugby club, where she engaged in team training as part of her Shaping Us initiative.
It was there that she met Sarah Renton, who shared the story behind the earrings and the legacy of her daughter, who had been a member of the rugby club since childhood and had even played at the national level for England's under-18 touch rugby team.
During their meeting, Renton expressed her pride in her daughter's accomplishments and the immense support she found within the rugby community.
She also commended Catherine for her ongoing efforts in promoting mental health awareness.
“She was just really empathetic; she gave me a hug,” Renton recalled, highlighting the compassionate nature of the Princess.
As the couple arrived at Birmingham's Factory Works Centre, they dove right into the activities planned for the day.
