**Prince Harry’s Misleading Statements About Nottingham Cottage Unveiled**
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently reminisced about their time at Nottingham Cottage, shedding light on the reality of their living situation in the fourth episode of their Netflix series.
Contrary to what Harry had previously implied, the couple revealed that their first home together was far from the grandeur of a palace.
Harry candidly shared, “As far as people were concerned, we were living in a palace and we were in a cottage.”
Meghan chimed in, emphasizing, “We were living on palace grounds.”
Despite the prestigious name, Kensington Palace, Meghan pointed out that Nottingham Cottage was anything but regal.
She remarked, “Kensington Palace sounds very regal.
Of course it does.
It says palace in the name.
But Nottingham Cottage was so small.”
Harry elaborated on the humble abode, describing its unique features.
He humorously noted, “The whole building's on a slight lean.
Really low ceilings.
I don't know who was there before us, but they must have been really short.”
However, royal enthusiasts were quick to correct Harry's oversight regarding the previous occupants of Nottingham Cottage.
Historian Marlene Koenig highlighted on Twitter, “Nottingham Cottage was designed by Sir Christopher Wren.
The previous tenants were his brother and sister-in-law and baby George.
His Aunt Jane and Uncle Robert lived there as well as the late Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.”
Social media users also chimed in, questioning Harry's complaints about the size of Nottingham Cottage.
One user sarcastically remarked, “Imagine complaining that Nottingham Cottage is small when Prince William, the highest member of the royal family, lived there with his family for quite a long time.”
Another user pointed out, “Um, wasn't that where William and Kate lived?
Ah yeah, super short William and Kate.”
The Sussexes' decision to reside in Nottingham Cottage echoed Prince William and Kate's choice to live there as newlyweds while awaiting renovations to their Kensington Palace apartments.
However, reports surfaced suggesting that Harry and Meghan were reluctant to live near Prince William and his family at Kensington Palace.
The couple reportedly considered Windsor Castle as an alternative, but Queen Elizabeth intervened, stating that Windsor is typically reserved for monarchs.
Eventually, Frogmore Cottage was proposed to Harry and Meghan, leading them to settle in Windsor.
This decision led to comparisons between the grandeur of London and the tranquility of Windsor.
While William and Catherine embraced life at Kensington Palace and Adelaide Cottage, Harry and Meghan opted for the quieter surroundings of Windsor.
Their rejection of Kensington Palace as a permanent residence left them with Frogmore Cottage as their base in the UK.
The contrast in living arrangements between the two royal couples highlighted the different paths chosen by the brothers.
As Harry and Meghan navigate their new chapter away from the bustling streets of London, the allure of Windsor's serenity beckons, albeit with the trade-off of a longer commute to the city.
