Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering selling their luxurious Montecito mansion and making a move to Los Angeles, as per a recent report.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are contemplating a shift closer to Hollywood, where many of their A-list friends are situated, according to TMZ.

While the couple has not yet visited any properties in Los Angeles, sources have disclosed that they are exploring specific neighborhoods in their quest for a new residence in Tinsel Town.

The potential relocation aligns with Meghan's reported interest in making a comeback to Hollywood in recent times.

However, a revelation from a source connected to a friend of the couple suggests that the Montecito house does not actually belong to Meghan and Harry, hence making it impossible for them to sell it.

Despite being heavily discounted at the time of purchase, the property was financially burdensome for them, leading them to take out a mortgage exceeding $9 million.

Consequently, it seems unlikely that they have built any equity in the property.

Their financial inexperience, coupled with a desire to keep up appearances, may have placed them in a precarious situation, particularly if they were to refinance or take out additional loans.

The property's issues, such as faulty plumbing, persistent odors from a nearby Bird Sanctuary, and a history of mudslides on the site, contributed to its prolonged sale duration of over two years.

Nevertheless, Meghan is believed to utilize the proceeds from a deal she inked with Omid Scobie for a new book titled “Endgame” to acquire a residence in Malibu.

Reports indicate that Meghan is entitled to 68% of the book's earnings, encompassing her intellectual property rights and revenue from book sales, while Omid Scobie retains the remaining 32%.
