Oprah Winfrey Faces Legal Trouble Following Meghan Markle Interview
Oprah Winfrey, known for her groundbreaking interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2021, may now find herself in the hot seat as lawyers seek to question her over the explosive revelations made during the chat.
Reports have surfaced indicating that Oprah could be compelled to give a deposition in the United States after Meghan's sister, Samantha Markle, filed a lawsuit seeking £60,000 in damages.
Samantha is adamant about summoning Oprah, along with several others, alleging that her reputation suffered as a result of her sister's disclosures in the tell-all interview last year.
Meghan's legal representative has disclosed that Samantha's legal team has identified 19 individuals, including Prince Harry, Meghan's mother, and Oprah Winfrey, whom they intend to depose.
In addition to claiming that her reputation took a hit during the candid conversation with Oprah where Meghan implied she was an only child, Samantha also asserts that she was defamed in the book “Finding Freedom.”
The situation escalates as a royal commentator branded Harry and Meghan as a liability.
During an appearance on GB News, Kinsey Schofield did not mince words when addressing the actions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, labeling them as hurtful towards the royal family.
She highlighted the aftermath of the Oprah interview, likening its impact to the tragic death of Princess Diana.
Schofield emphasized that the couple's actions since relocating to America have raised concerns about their role within the monarchy.
Jonathan Sacerdoti weighed in, suggesting that Meghan Markle may be indifferent to the harm she has caused the royal family.
Sacerdoti speculated that given the Sussexes' penchant for making controversial statements, Prince Charles is likely to delay any decisions regarding titles for Archie and Lilibet until after the release of their upcoming Netflix series and Harry's highly anticipated memoir.
He underscored Meghan's background in acting and modeling, noting that unlike previous non-royal spouses, she came into the royal fold with a different set of experiences.
Sacerdoti pointed out that some individuals who married into the royal family had prior exposure to public relations, which provided them with insights into dealing with media scrutiny.
In analyzing Meghan's actions, Sacerdoti acknowledged the differing perspectives on her motivations.
While some critics argue that she deliberately disregards the royal family's interests, others believe she may simply lack an understanding of the implications of her behavior.
Drawing on Meghan's past interviews, he noted her admission of being unfamiliar with the workings of British tabloids and the royal protocols upon entering the royal sphere.
Sacerdoti concluded that regardless of her intentions, Meghan's actions have stirred controversy and raised questions about her compatibility with the royal family's values and traditions.
