Meghan Markle’s Bold Demand: $57,000 per Episode for Suits Reboot
Meghan Markle, known for her role in the hit TV series “Suits,” has been making headlines recently with her bold demands for the show's reboot.
The former actress reportedly reached out to show creator Aaron Korsh, requesting a hefty sum of $57,000 per episode to reprise her role.
However, Korsh seemingly brushed off her emails, indicating that Meghan's return to the show is unlikely.
During a recent interview at the Golden Globes red carpet, Suits stars Gabriel Macht and Gina Torres addressed Meghan's potential comeback, confirming that she would not be part of a brand new spinoff.
Despite this, Meghan's spokesperson countered by suggesting that she could potentially earn over £300,000 per episode in the spinoff amid financial challenges.
According to the spokesperson, Meghan previously earned £37,000 per episode during her time on Suits, accumulating a substantial annual salary of £330,000.
Additionally, she continues to receive royalties from her appearances on the show, earning money each time episodes air in the US or on streaming platforms like NBC Peacock and Netflix.
PR expert Maya Riaz weighed in on the situation, speculating that Meghan's return to Suits could be a strategic move to reconnect with her fan base and attract new viewers.
Riaz suggested that a cameo appearance by Meghan could serve as a promotional opportunity for the show.
Despite the speculation, Aaron Korsh firmly denied Meghan's involvement in the new Suits spinoff.
He expressed excitement about the upcoming project with NBCUniversal, hinting at a return to the beloved world of the show's characters.
However, Meghan's participation is off the table, as confirmed by Korsh.
The revelation comes after Korsh disclosed that a cast member, believed to be Meghan, had requested a significant salary for appearing in the new season.
Korsh's dismissal of the demand implies that Meghan's return to paid acting may not align with his vision for the show's future.
Critics have also raised concerns about the potential success of a Suits revival without key characters like Harvey and Mike.
While some argue that investing heavily in such a project could be risky, others point to past examples like Gina Torres' spinoff, “Pearson,” which was short-lived.
Looking ahead, the possibility of a Suits revival remains uncertain, with discussions centered on a limited episode format akin to “Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.”
Amidst financial considerations and shifting dynamics in the entertainment industry, the decision to bring back the show at a high cost, particularly to accommodate Meghan's demands, appears increasingly unlikely.
