Meghan and Harry’s Netflix Series Sparks Controversy with YouTube Star
In a recent uproar, Charlotte Lester, a well-known YouTube personality, has taken aim at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their Netflix series, which suggested she was involved in a coordinated trolling campaign against the couple.
This revelation has ignited a firestorm of criticism from Lester, who feels unjustly targeted by the series.
Lester, who previously served as the deputy editor for Star Magazine, found herself labeled as one of three YouTubers depicted as villains in the documentary.
The series insinuated that these individuals were orchestrating smear campaigns against Meghan Markle, particularly during her early relationship with Prince Harry.
As stories began to surface about Markle, many were sourced from Star Magazine and US Weekly, where she was often quoted.
In a striking clip, fellow YouTuber Shallon Lester made headlines by claiming she had seen Meghan's driver's license, which allegedly identifies her as Caucasian.
According to Shallon, Markle only embraces her Black identity when it benefits her narrative.
This bold assertion adds another layer to the ongoing debate surrounding Markle's racial identity and public persona.
With nearly 350,000 subscribers on YouTube, Shallon did not hold back her disdain for the documentary, labeling it a “festival of bullshit.”
Her remarks came after the fifth episode featured snippets from her videos amidst claims of an online campaign spreading hate against the Sussexes.
The segment included commentary from experts like Sophia Noble and Christopher Bowsey, who argued that there was an organized effort to undermine the couple.
Lester responded vehemently to the documentary's claims, describing them as “pathetic fiction.”
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, she expressed her disbelief at being portrayed as part of a shadowy network.
“Nothing these two say makes sense,” she asserted, emphasizing that the reality is much simpler: Harry and Meghan are simply unlikable.
She continued to critique Markle's approach to race, suggesting that while Markle plays the race card, many in the Black community are also tired of her narrative.
“Some people have actual hardship,” she remarked, implying that Markle's struggles are exaggerated in comparison to real issues faced by others.
Shallon revealed that she had never been contacted by Netflix regarding her inclusion in the series, nor had she been given an opportunity to comment.
This lack of communication has led her to consider legal action against the streaming giant.
“It's defamatory, slanderous,” she stated, indicating that she is consulting with her legal team about potential repercussions.
The documentary also brought attention to Christopher Bowsey's statements, which Lester believes are unfounded and damaging.
She challenged anyone associated with the series to substantiate their claims of a conspiracy against the Sussexes, arguing that such assumptions only fuel public disdain for the couple.
Her frustration is palpable as she critiques the narrative presented in the documentary.
“They're paranoid and self-aggrandizing,” she said, asserting that their victim narratives come off as grating and entitled.
In her view, the Sussexes' inability to recognize their own shortcomings contributes to their negative public image.
As the controversy unfolds, it appears that Shallon is serious about pursuing legal routes.
The implication that she is part of a conspiracy akin to QAnon is particularly concerning to her, highlighting the gravity of the accusations made in the series.
