Meghan and Harry: Once Hollywood Darlings, Now Struggling to Fit In
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's star seems to be fading in Tinseltown.
According to royal biographer Tom Bower, the couple has been notably sidelined in Hollywood circles, especially after being snubbed by Elton John at a recent Oscars gathering.
The Sussexes were conspicuously absent from the glitzy event, which showcased some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.
Bower, who penned “Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors,” highlighted their exclusion from Elton John's Oscars party as a significant indicator of their current standing in Hollywood.
He remarked during a segment on GB News that their absence speaks volumes about how they are perceived now.
“They really are nobodies in Hollywood,” he stated bluntly.
Adding fuel to the fire, Bower criticized King Charles for his indecisiveness regarding Meghan and Harry's involvement in royal events.
With the coronation approaching, he warned that Charles's hesitance could ultimately weaken the monarchy's status in Britain.
“He's going to undermine the state of the monarchy if he's not very careful,” Bower cautioned.
While the couple has received an invitation to attend the coronation, they remain tight-lipped about their plans.
Bower suggested that Meghan and Harry are carefully considering how to manage their public image.
“If they're put in row 54 behind a column, then they won't come,” he said, implying that they're concerned about how they will be perceived at such a high-profile event.
The 95th Academy Awards took place last Sunday, and the absence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was glaring.
As one of the most anticipated nights in Hollywood, it's surprising that they chose to skip it.
Reports indicate that they had initially planned a gathering in Montecito but canceled due to the turmoil surrounding Silicon Valley Bank, leaving them feeling less than festive.
In another twist, sources suggest that A-list celebrities are distancing themselves from the couple, perhaps wary of getting entangled in their ongoing disputes with the royal family.
Royal expert Kinsey Schofield expressed her astonishment at the dwindling support from Hollywood's elite.
“Where are the stars who used to back them?” she asked.
Schofield also pointed out that Meghan and Harry might be feeling a bit embarrassed following Chris Rock's recent stand-up special, which aired on Netflix.
Rock didn't hold back, taking shots at the couple, who had previously signed a lucrative deal with the streaming giant.
This public roasting could have contributed to their retreat from the spotlight.
Interestingly, many of their former celebrity allies have gone silent.
Schofield noted the absence of prominent figures like Oprah Winfrey and Gail King, who once vocally supported the Sussexes.
“They've all disappeared into the background,” she remarked, questioning where these voices of support have gone.
Historically, figures like George Clooney stood up for Harry and Meghan after they stepped away from royal duties.
However, the landscape has changed dramatically, and it appears that public backing has evaporated.
Even Tyler Perry, who once offered them sanctuary, seems to have distanced himself.
As the couple navigates this challenging phase, the question remains: can they regain their footing in Hollywood?
With a growing perception of isolation and criticism, the path ahead looks uncertain.
Whether they can rebuild their brand or continue to fade into the background is still up for debate, but the stakes are undeniably high.
