Megan Markle’s Podcast Sparks Debate: Is She the Star or the Story?

In a recent analysis, Pilot Hardy took to Twitter to dissect the content of 's podcast, revealing some surprising statistics about her self-referential storytelling.

Hardy pointed out that in a show intended to spotlight guests and their narratives, the frequent use of “I” and “me” by Meghan is quite remarkable.

The tweet highlighted how this focus on her own experiences may overshadow the stories of those she invites to join her.

Royal commentator Daniela Elsa weighed in on the discussion, noting that much of the episode felt like a monologue from Meghan herself.

She remarked on how listeners were treated to yet another recounting of Meghan's childhood experience with a sexist dishwashing detergent advertisement at just 11 years old.

According to Elsa, the podcast was filled with Meghan's reflections, delivered in her signature soothing Californian accent, alongside a few pointed criticisms of various institutions.

The journalist's analysis revealed that Meghan dominated the conversation, contributing approximately 61% of the dialogue.

In stark contrast, tennis icon Serena Williams—who boasts an impressive 23 Grand Slam singles titles—only accounted for 39% of the talk.

Interestingly, it took nearly 11 minutes into the episode before Williams had a chance to share her thoughts, with even chiming in before she did.

Listeners on Twitter had mixed reactions to the podcast.

Some expressed their disappointment, suggesting that there are far more engaging podcasts available that deserve their attention.

Others humorously labeled Meghan's podcast as a “cure for insomnia,” while a few noted that the most enjoyable part of the debut episode was its conclusion.

Adding to the chorus of critique, former British politician David Mellor didn't hold back in his assessment of Meghan's venture into podcasting.

He suggested that while the podcast might be branded as successful, it simultaneously fell short in delivering meaningful content.

His comments painted a picture of Meghan transforming her life narrative into a soap opera, implying that her dramatic storytelling lacks substance.

Titled “Archetypes,” Meghan's podcast is part of a lucrative deal with Spotify, but Mellor's disappointment was palpable.

He accused her of living in a “crazy world” where she believes everyone is riveted by her every word and experience, whether past or present.

This notion, he said, reflects a disconnect between Meghan and the audience she aims to engage.

Mellor also hinted at skepticism regarding Meghan's authenticity, suggesting that she may not be concerned with the truthfulness of her claims.
