King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s Royal Adventure in Kenya
King Charles III and Queen Camilla are currently enjoying an official visit to Kenya, marking a significant engagement for the Royal Family.
Their tour of East Africa is scheduled from Tuesday, October 31, to Friday, November 3, 2023, and it promises to be a memorable journey filled with rich experiences.
This isn't the first time King Charles has roamed the stunning landscapes of Tanzania.
Twelve years ago, he was known as the Prince of Wales and embarked on a memorable trip that included a foot safari through Arusha National Park.
To honor that visit, Tanzania has erected a special monument within the park, celebrating the ties between the British Royal Family and the Tanzanian people.
Arusha National Park, nestled at the base of Mount Meru, now boasts a dedicated walking trail named “The King's Trail.”
This trail was recently inaugurated by the park authorities and allows visitors to trace the steps of the King and Queen, enhancing the connection to their past visit.
A noteworthy feature of this trail is a monument located near a fig tree that caught King Charles's attention during his 2011 excursion.
During that earlier visit, which took place just days before King Charles's 63rd birthday, he enjoyed a long nature walk alongside Queen Camilla and the Duchess of Cambridge.
The scenic beauty of the park, including its fig trees and the picturesque Tallulah waterfall, remains a highlight for anyone exploring the area.
Justina Kiwango, the Deputy Director of the Department of Conservation, shared insights about the Royal Family's previous visit.
She noted that the 2011 tour was a private affair, with only a select few officials accompanying the royals.
Among them were Michael Ngatoluwa, a senior ranger of Tanzania's national parks, and Tamishin Nyao, the former chief ranger of Arusha National Park.
