King Charles Grants Marquess of Chomondley Prestigious New Role

has bestowed upon the Marquess of Chomondley, also known as David Rock Savage, a significant new position, marking a return to prominence for him and his wife Rose Hanbury following his removal as Lord Great Chamberlain last year.

The Marquess will now fulfill the duties of the King's Lord-in-Waiting, a prestigious role that involves representing his majesty at crucial state functions and royal gatherings.

This development comes as welcome news not only for the Marquess but also for his close friends and neighbors, and Kate, the Princess of Wales.

Residing at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, near Anmer in the picturesque East Anglian countryside, the Marquess and his wife enjoy a lavish lifestyle surrounded by a sprawling thousand-acre parkland.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2009, share a notable age gap of 23 years, and are proud parents to three children – twin sons Alexander and Oliver, and daughter Iris.

Formerly tasked with the ceremonial duty of walking backward in front of the monarch during the state opening of parliament in his previous role as Lord Great Chamberlain, the Marquess had to relinquish the position following the passing of in September, as per tradition dictates a change of aristocratic family with the monarch's demise.

Succeeding the Marquess in the esteemed position was the 7th Lord Carrington, whose father served as Foreign Secretary during Margaret Thatcher's tenure as Prime Minister.

Balancing his time between Norfolk and Cheshire, where his family has resided at Tromondley since 1200, the Marquess is deeply rooted in tradition and heritage.

His late mother, the Dowager Marchioness Lavinia, resided at Tromondley Castle until her demise in November 2015.

Known for their amiable relationship with the royal family, the Marquess and Marchioness are familiar faces at various royal functions, including the recent service of thanksgiving for in 2022.

The Marchioness, with her own ties to royalty through her grandmother Lady Rose Lambert, who served as a bridesmaid at 's wedding in 1947, has forged a strong friendship with Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, through their shared philanthropic endeavors with the East Anglian Children's Hospital.

A former model turned philanthropist, Miss Hanbury shares a passion for photography, showcasing captivating images of the Houghton Hall estate on her Instagram account.

Their whirlwind romance culminated in a swift engagement announcement in June 2009, swiftly followed by the revelation of their pregnancy and a same-day wedding ceremony, as reported by Hello!
