Kate’s Emotional Moment at National Service of Remembrance

Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was visibly moved during today's National Service of Remembrance, as captured in a poignant moment on camera.

Standing on a balcony at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Kate closed her eyes and pursed her lips while paying tribute to the fallen on Remembrance Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Kate emerged from Kensington Palace donning an elegant black militarist-style jacket adorned with red shoulder lapels and a high-neck white collar.

Alongside other senior royals, government officials, and members of the armed forces, she observed a respectful two-minute silence as part of the commemorations.

This deviation occurred after Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen, due to a back injury, would not be attending the event in central London.

In an official statement, the Palace conveyed the Queen's regret over her inability to participate in the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph, citing a sprained back as the reason for her absence.

Kate and Camilla, who had stood together on the balcony the previous year, found themselves side by side once again, this time due to the Queen's unexpected withdrawal.

During last year's Remembrance Sunday, Kate and Camilla maintained a distance of two meters between them, adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols amidst a national lockdown.

In contrast, the Queen stood alone, accompanied solely by a lady-in-waiting during the ceremony.
