Julia Samuel’s Skiing Mishap: A Royal Godmother’s Injury in the Alps
In a surprising turn of events, Julia Samuel, the beloved godmother of Prince George, has suffered a serious shoulder injury while enjoying a skiing holiday in the picturesque French Alps.
The incident occurred last week, leaving many fans concerned about her well-being.
Samuel, a dedicated psychotherapist, took to social media to share the unfortunate details of her accident.
In a heartfelt video posted on Instagram, she revealed that her granddaughter was the one behind the camera, capturing a moment that quickly turned into a mishap.
“This is being filmed by my granddaughter, and she always films my holiday clips,” she explained, adding, “But today she filmed me with my broken shoulder on the first morning of our holiday.
I fell on and broke my shoulder.
I have 10 nails in it and I can't move much.”
The news of her injury drew an outpouring of support from her followers, many of whom took a moment to wish her a speedy recovery.
This incident has not only left Samuel in discomfort but has also highlighted her close ties to the British royal family.
As one of Prince George's seven godparents, Julia Samuel holds a unique position within the royal circle.
Her bond with the family deepened significantly following her friendship with the late Princess Diana, for whom she served as a therapist.
Even after Diana's tragic passing in 1997, Samuel maintained a strong relationship with the royals, ultimately leading to Prince William inviting her to become George's godmother.
Reflecting on this special role, Samuel expressed her gratitude and affection in an interview with The Observer in 2022.
“I feel lucky that I was a good friend of Princess Diana, and I really love my godson, George,” she shared.
“This is a wonderful way to love her.”
In a previous appearance on the podcast “How to Fail” with Elizabeth Day, Samuel described George as “amazing, funny, feisty, and sassy,” adding that Diana would have adored him.
Her fondness for the young prince is evident, and she often reminisces about the influence Diana had on her life and now on George's.
Samuel's connection to Princess Diana extends beyond mere memories; she actively keeps the spirit of the late princess alive through her interactions with George.
