Jennifer Garner Outshines Meghan Markle in Charity Work Controversy
Jennifer Garner recently returned to Perry County, Kentucky, more than a year after the devastating floods that left the town in ruins.
The historic flooding, described as one of Kentucky's worst disasters by Governor Andy Beshear, caused immense destruction, including the loss of Robinson Elementary School.
During her emotional visit, covered by the Today Show, Garner, a native of West Virginia, expressed deep empathy for the affected students and the destruction of their cherished school library, which she credited with shaping her own life.
Garner was visibly moved by the heartbreaking scenes, remarking, “It just takes my breath away.”
She shared how her elementary school library had a profound impact on her life, underscoring the significance of such spaces for children.
The actress, who has been associated with Save the Children since 2014, reflected on the significant loss suffered by the students and teachers of Robinson Elementary.
Following the floods, over 500 children from the school, along with students from a neighboring institution, now share a single building, with many families displaced from their homes.
Garner spent time with these resilient students, witnessing firsthand their unwavering strength in the face of adversity.
She highlighted the children's desire to convey the fear and loss they experienced due to the destruction of their school and homes, places that held deep sentimental value for their families.
In a heartwarming gesture, Garner surprised the students and teachers with a generous donation of more than 500 books from Scholastic.
Additionally, she pledged to provide 5,000 books for the future libraries of both schools once they are rebuilt, showcasing her commitment to supporting education and literacy in the community.
However, amidst Garner's philanthropic efforts, a controversy arose involving Archwell, the foundation led by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
It was revealed that Archwell attempted to align itself with Garner's charity initiatives, particularly with Save the Children, in a bid to collaborate on charitable projects.
This maneuver by Archwell drew parallels to their previous approach with World Central Kitchen, where they would publicize partnerships with charities and claim credit for contributions to the organizations' endeavors.
Such tactics could potentially create a misleading impression of Meghan and Harry's level of involvement in charitable activities.
Notably, Meghan permitted the use of photos and videos of her and Archie for the Save with Stories campaign, spearheaded by Jennifer Garner, for social media promotion.
Despite this, Meghan has not made monetary donations to the organization, raising questions about the sincerity of her philanthropic engagements.
Critics have voiced concerns about Meghan and Harry's charitable endeavors, suggesting that their primary focus may be on self-promotion to generate funds for their foundation.
Allegations have surfaced regarding the allocation of a substantial portion, reportedly 95%, of the foundation's income into their personal accounts.
Moreover, doubts have been raised about the couple's lack of visible involvement in philanthropic activities or partnerships with established organizations in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Despite Harry's initiatives in the startup sector, there seems to be a dearth of significant collaborations with reputable mental health platforms, such as Calm, Headspace, or BetterHelp.
As scrutiny intensifies around Meghan and Harry's charitable practices, there are growing concerns about the sustainability of their brand and reputation.
