**Gienko Foundation Hollywood Gala Raises Funds for Nigerian Women and Children**
The Gienko Foundation recently hosted its annual Hollywood Gala at the One Hotel on Friday, September 29th, to raise funds for programs dedicated to supporting vulnerable women and children in Nigeria.
The event aimed to gather resources for the David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls, which offers comprehensive support including tuition, housing, healthcare, and social care to young female victims of gender inequality in Nigeria.
This initiative focuses on uplifting and empowering bright girls facing challenging circumstances.
Moreover, the proceeds from the Gala will also contribute to Gienko’s upcoming Special Surgical Mission to Nigeria scheduled for November 2023.
The event garnered support from prominent figures in the entertainment industry, with Benedict Cumberbatch serving as the Honorary Chair, Chiwetel Ejiofor and David Oyelowo as Gala Chairs, and Foleke Oluwefeku as the Gala Chair and host of the 2023 Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Event.
Notable personalities such as Charlize Theron and Forrest Whitaker, previous Gala honorees and Oscar winners, were also in attendance.
In a recent development, it was noted that Meghan and Harry were not extended invitations to the Foundation’s Gala, despite the Sussexes’ donation to support 2,500 school girls in Nigeria through Gienko.
While the report showcased 15 girls with backpacks, the ambiguity arose as it mentioned educating 2,500 girls about menstrual health without specifying the exact number of backpacks funded by the donation.
During his speech at the event, Gienko Foundation CEO Afem Onyema expressed gratitude towards all contributors but notably omitted any mention of Meghan and Harry.
When questioned by a reporter regarding the Sussexes’ contribution, the CEO clarified that their donation only covered a minimal amount of backpacks to limit expenses, though the figure of 2,500 was used to obfuscate the actual facts.
This discrepancy highlighted a potential misinterpretation of the donation’s impact.
Following Meghan’s recent controversies involving New York students, her alleged involvement in fraudulent activities exposed by the Gienko Foundation could potentially harm her political aspirations, particularly in light of Senator Dianne Feinstein’s recent passing.
Feinstein, a longstanding senator from California, passed away after a 30-year tenure, prompting speculation about Meghan’s interest in the vacant position.
It has been suggested that Meghan has been eyeing a political career since her relocation to the United States in 2020, engaging in various advocacy efforts, including contacting Republican senators regarding family leave policies.
Despite attempts to portray herself as a viable candidate for political office, her utilization of a royal title, such as the Duchess of Sussex, holds little significance in American political circles where such titles carry no weight.
While Meghan’s ambition for a political role, possibly a female senator’s seat, is evident, the requirement to relinquish her royal title poses a significant obstacle.
The allure of maintaining a royal persona appears paramount to her self-perception, potentially overshadowing her political ambitions.
