Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Rejoin St. Patrick’s Day Parade After Two-Year Hiatus

In a delightful return to tradition, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are gearing up to participate in the St. Patrick's Day parade at Mons Barracks in Aldershot next week.

This event, set for March 17, marks their first appearance at the parade in two years, a break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and prior deployments of the Irish Guards.

Prince William, who holds the title of Colonel of the Irish Guards, and Kate Middleton have a history of attending this festive occasion together.

Their absence over the last two years has been felt by both the royals and the regiment.

Last year's festivities were canceled due to health concerns, while the 2020 parade could not take place because many members of the regiment were deployed overseas.

During the upcoming event, Kate will carry on a cherished tradition that royal women have upheld since 1901.

She will present sprigs of shamrock to the officers and guardsmen, who will then pass them along the ranks.

Additionally, she will honor the regimental mascot, an Irish wolfhound, with a sprig of shamrock of his own.

Meanwhile, William will take the salute during the ceremonial march past, adding a touch of royal flair to the proceedings.

After the parade, the couple is expected to mingle with members of the regiment, posing for an official photo.

They'll also visit the junior ranks dining hall, where they'll likely raise a glass in celebration, probably enjoying a pint of traditional Guinness to toast the occasion.

Next week promises to be quite busy for the Cambridges.

On Monday, they will attend the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, joining other members of the royal family for this significant event.

Just two days later, they'll step into the spotlight again for the St. Patrick's Day festivities.

But the excitement doesn't stop there.

Following the parade, William and Kate will embark on a much-anticipated Caribbean tour.

Buckingham Palace recently confirmed that the couple will travel to the Caribbean for a week-long trip, which aims to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The tour kicks off on Saturday, March 19, and will take them through Belize, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, concluding on March 26.
