Could Meghan Markle Testify in Prince Andrew’s Legal Case?
Speculations arise as David Boyes, the lawyer representing Virginia Roberts Jewfrey in her ongoing civil case against Prince Andrew, hints at the possibility of calling upon the Duchess of Sussex to testify should the case proceed to trial.
Boyes emphasized that Meghan Markle, being in the U.S., falls under their jurisdiction and was a close associate of Prince Andrew for a significant period, potentially privy to crucial information regarding his actions or conversations about them.
Referring to her credibility, Boyes asserted that Meghan Markle fulfills all necessary criteria to provide valuable insights if required.
Prince Andrew's legal team recently sought to dismiss the case, which was initiated under New York's Child Victims Act.
In response, Boyes disclosed to the Daily Beast that if the motion for dismissal is rejected, Prince Andrew and his former spouse, Sarah Ferguson, might face depositions.
The lawsuit against Prince Andrew, served by Virginia Roberts Jewfrey in August, alleges that she was trafficked to him by the late convicted s– offender Jeffrey Epstein during her youth, leading to multiple instances of forced s–ual encounters with the Duke of York.
Virginia Roberts Jewfrey has persistently accused Prince Andrew of misconduct, claiming severe and enduring repercussions from the alleged abuse.
Despite her assertions, Prince Andrew vehemently denies any wrongdoing and refutes ever meeting Jewfrey.
In a December 2019 interview with BBC News Night, he categorically dismissed the allegations as baseless, asserting no recollection of encountering her.
Regarding a disputed photograph featuring both individuals, Prince Andrew expressed complete unawareness of its existence, further complicating the narrative surrounding the case.
When approached for comments on the lawsuit, Buckingham Palace redirected inquiries to Prince Andrew's legal representatives, distancing themselves from the legal proceedings.
The Duke's legal team, in turn, opted not to provide statements regarding the lawsuit, maintaining a discreet stance in the face of mounting legal challenges.
As the legal battle intensifies, the potential involvement of high-profile figures like Meghan Markle adds a layer of complexity to the unfolding saga, underscoring the gravity of the allegations against Prince Andrew and the broader implications for the royal family.
