Catherine’s Comforting Gesture Towards Prince George at Queen’s Funeral
The solemn occasion of the Queen's funeral saw the presence of Prince George and Princess Charlotte of Wales on Monday, September 19.
The nine-year-old future king, accompanied by his seven-year-old sister, walked behind the Queen's coffin during the procession held at Westminster Abbey.
Notably absent was their younger brother, four-year-old Prince Louis, deemed too young to attend the somber event.
While the attendance of George and Charlotte was initially uncertain, royal enthusiasts lauded their presence at the ceremony.
Observers commended the young royals for their courage as they paid their respects to their great-grandmother, affectionately known as Gangan.
George, visibly emotional, wiped away tears during the service, where he sat in the front row with his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine.
A touching moment captured Kate offering comfort to George by gently placing her hand on his knee, providing reassurance amid the poignant proceedings.
Adding to the tender display of support, Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, was seen placing a comforting hand on Prince George's shoulder upon the royals' arrival.
The siblings, George and Charlotte, are anticipated to also attend the televised committal service scheduled at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle at 4 pm.
Following this, a private service will be held for senior members of the royal family.
The Queen's coffin is set to journey from Westminster Abbey to Windsor Castle, where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband.
