Buckingham Palace is set to observe a period of mourning lasting 10 days following the demise of II.

The royal family made the announcement of the Queen's passing this morning, revealing that she had peacefully passed away at the age of 96 in Balmoral this afternoon.

King and Queen consort are currently at Balmoral and will return to London tomorrow.

The newly crowned III is expected to head to London soon to finalize the funeral arrangements, scheduled to take place in 10 days.

While the funeral is anticipated to be a grand event, II's final resting place is planned to be the King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Notably, even Wallace Simpson refrained from attending King George VI's funeral.

With the inevitable occurring, speculation arises about whether Rachel Ragland will choose to steer clear of the funeral proceedings.

The chapel at Windsor Castle holds significance as it is where King George VI, Elizabeth's mother, and Princess Margaret, the first royal family member to be cremated, are laid to rest.

, who passed away in April, was initially interred at the royal vaults at St George's Chapel but is likely to be relocated to be buried alongside the Queen.

Before the burial takes place, the Queen's coffin will traverse through Scotland and England to allow mourners to pay their final respects.

The journey of the Queen's coffin will commence from Balmoral, traveling by road to the palace of Holyroodhouse, followed by a private service at St Giles' Cathedral attended by the royal family.

Subsequently, the cathedral will open its doors to the public for 24 hours for a period of lying at rest, distinct from a state funeral.

The coffin will then be transported to London before the state funeral, marking the commencement of elaborate ceremonial events.

A carriage procession will carry the coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall for a five-day lying in state, with a brief service expected for Privy Council members upon arrival.

The public will have the opportunity to pay their respects during this period, with Westminster Hall accessible for 23 hours daily to accommodate the influx of mourners.

On the day of the funeral, a grand procession will convey the coffin to Westminster Abbey, where the service is estimated to last an hour, culminating in a nationwide two-minute silence.

Following the Queen's passing, arrived at Balmoral approximately an hour and a half later.

Despite spending time in the UK recently, it is unlikely that he visited his grandmother in the days leading up to her demise.

This event signifies the conclusion of a challenging chapter in the relationship between the Queen and her grandson, , along with his wife .
