Bravo, Jimmy Carr Takes a Swipe at Harry and Meghan on Big Fat Quiz 2023, Society’s Punchline
In a long-standing tradition that wraps up the year with a blend of humor and contemplation, Jimmy Carr once again assumes the role of host for the highly-anticipated Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2023.
This television extravaganza stands out as a highlight of the holiday viewing lineup, offering viewers a chance to reminisce on the most noteworthy events of 2023.
This year's panel boasts a diverse array of comedic talent, with familiar figures poised to command the stage.
Among them are Mo Gilligan, Rosie Jones, Katherine Ryan, Richard Ayode, Mel Giudaroc, and Kevin Bridges, each bringing their distinct comedic flair to the forefront.
Together, they will delve into the year's headlines, pop culture phenomena, and offbeat occurrences in a battle of wit and wisdom.
As I tune in to the Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2023, Jimmy Carr playfully pokes fun at Harry and Meghan while kicking off the news segment.
Interestingly, neither the panel members nor the audience vocally objected to the jest made by Jimmy.
The show also features Charles Dance reciting an excerpt from Harry's memoir, with the segments involving Meghan portrayed by none other than the iconic Morgan Freeman.
At the 6-minute-30-second mark, Jimmy Carr quipped, “In June, Harry, the red-haired royal formerly known as Prince, made history by testifying in court for 130 days.
It's appalling how the media have attempted to manipulate, gaslight, and dominate Harry.
Who do they think they are, Meghan?”
This isn't the first instance of Jimmy Carr taking a dig at Meghan and Harry.
Last year, he took aim at Meghan's stance on feminism.
During a recent episode of The Last Leg, Jimmy Carr humorously critiqued Meghan Markle, following a review of the new documentary centered on Harry and Meghan.
Joined by Judy Love from Loose Women on the show, Jimmy delved into the Netflix production.
In light of a momentous week for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Jimmy reacted to their revealing six-part documentary by jesting, “I watched it.
There are some surprises in there.
I didn't know Harry's mother was Princess Diana.
Spoiler alert – she passes away.
Who would have guessed?”
He added, “It's peculiar.
They provide ample material for jokes, yet they come across as genuinely nice individuals.”
Despite his initial commendation of the couple, he sardonically remarked, “But Meghan Markle, a lifelong feminist.
Evidently proven by marrying a prince and relinquishing her career,” eliciting a mixed response from the audience.
Asserting that it was all in good humor, Jimmy reiterated his stance as he assessed the reaction to his playful comment.
Following some subdued applause, fellow guest Judy reassured the audience and viewers that it was acceptable to applaud, while host Adam Hill squirmed in his chair.
Jimmy proceeded to delve further into the trending Netflix show, referencing the Duke and Duchess' plea for privacy from the media.
He remarked, “Here's the deal – if you seek privacy, refraining from partaking in a Netflix documentary might be advisable.”
Concluding with a punchline, he suggested, “Opt for Britbox instead,” prompting hearty laughter from the audience.
