A Royal Love Story: Queen and Prince Philip Celebrate 73 Years Together
In a heartwarming display of familial love, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip recently opened a special anniversary card crafted by their grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
This touching moment marked the couple's 73rd wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflects their enduring bond.
The couple shared smiles as they explored a selection of cards and letters sent by well-wishers while nestled in the Oak Room of Windsor Castle.
As they navigate the challenges of another lockdown, the royal duo has found solace in each other's company at their Berkshire residence, affectionately nicknamed “HMS Bubble.”
This name stems from the 22 staff members who quarantined with them during the initial wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip tied the knot on November 20, 1947, in a ceremony held at Westminster Abbey.
However, this year, the iconic bells of the Abbey will remain silent in honor of their anniversary, as it is currently under restricted services due to ongoing health concerns related to COVID-19.
In recent years, the couple has often spent their anniversary apart.
Since his retirement in 2017, Prince Philip has primarily resided at Wood Farm in Sandringham.
Despite the physical distance, the Queen has always referred to him as her “strength and stay,” emphasizing the deep emotional connection they share.
On this special day, the Queen donned a pale blue double-wool crepe dress designed by Stuart Parvin, complemented by a stunning chrysanthemum brooch made of sapphires and diamonds set in platinum.
This exquisite piece has a sentimental history; she was first photographed wearing it during her honeymoon at Broadlands in Hampshire and again for their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007.
