Jennifer Garner recently returned to Perry County, Kentucky, more than a year after the devastating floods that left the town in ruins.

The historic flooding, described as one of Kentucky's worst disasters by Governor Andy Beshear, caused immense destruction, including the loss of Robinson Elementary School.

During her emotional visit, covered by the Today Show, Garner, a native of West Virginia, expressed deep empathy for the affected students and the destruction of their cherished school library, which she credited with shaping her own life.

Garner was visibly moved by the heartbreaking scenes, remarking, “It just takes my breath away.”

She shared how her elementary school library had a profound impact on her life, underscoring the significance of such spaces for children.

The actress, who has been associated with Save the Children since 2014, reflected on the significant loss suffered by the students and teachers of Robinson Elementary.

Following the floods, over 500 children from the school, along with students from a neighboring institution, now share a single building, with many families displaced from their homes.

Garner spent time with these resilient students, witnessing firsthand their unwavering strength in the face of adversity.

She highlighted the children's desire to convey the fear and loss they experienced due to the destruction of their school and homes, places that held deep sentimental value for their families.

In a heartwarming gesture, Garner surprised the students and teachers with a generous donation of more than 500 books from Scholastic.

Additionally, she pledged to provide 5,000 books for the future libraries of both schools once they are rebuilt, showcasing her commitment to supporting education and literacy in the community.

However, amidst Garner's philanthropic efforts, a controversy arose involving Archwell, the foundation led by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

It was revealed that Archwell attempted to align itself with Garner's charity initiatives, particularly with Save the Children, in a bid to collaborate on charitable projects.

This maneuver by Archwell drew parallels to their previous approach with World Central Kitchen, where they would publicize partnerships with charities and claim credit for contributions to the organizations' endeavors.

Such tactics could potentially create a misleading impression of Meghan and Harry's level of involvement in charitable activities.
