Prince William Shares Why He Skipped the Paris Olympics

In a candid moment, opened up about his decision to miss the Olympics in Paris.

The future king explained that his primary concern was the health of his wife, the Princess of Wales.

With her undergoing chemotherapy, he didn't want to risk bringing home Covid-19.

Instead, he found himself glued to the television, cheering on the athletes from afar.

The Prince made these remarks during a visit to a community pool in Burtley, located in northeast England.

His appearance aimed to promote the Royal Foundation's new initiative focused on enhancing access to swimming.

This pool had faced closure due to budget cuts but managed to reopen last month after raising an impressive £400,000 through crowdfunding efforts, government support, and a generous contribution from the Royal Foundation.

As he arrived, William engaged with enthusiastic locals who had gathered outside, eager to catch a glimpse of him.

Many had been waiting since early morning, ready with their cameras for selfies.

It was a lively scene, showcasing the warmth and excitement of the community.

Inside the pool, the Prince met with Olympic stars Adam Peaty and Tom Dean, as well as Paralympians Maisie Summers-Newton and Louise Fitts.

The athletes proudly displayed their medals, celebrating their hard-earned achievements.

During this meet-and-greet, Tom Dean posed a question to William about whether he had managed to make it to Paris.

William's response was filled with sincerity.

He expressed his eagerness to attend but highlighted his apprehensions about Covid.

He recalled reading an interview that emphasized the ongoing risks, especially after hearing about Adam Peaty's positive test during the games.

With his wife's health in mind, he decided it was best to stay home, a choice he clearly felt was necessary.

Despite missing the live event, William assured the athletes that he and Catherine were fully engaged with the Olympics from home.

“We watched the whole thing.

We were glued to it every day,” he shared, illustrating his dedication to supporting Team GB.
