Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Kick Off Caribbean Tour in Belize

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have officially begun their much-anticipated Caribbean tour, landing in Belize last night.

Kate dazzled in a blue ensemble designed by Jenny Packham, while William opted for a light blue suit as they arrived at Belize City Airport aboard an RAF Voyager jet.

Their arrival was marked by a unique 21-gun salute, featuring three miniature cannons fired by uniformed personnel pulling on strings—quite the spectacle!

Upon touching down, the couple was warmly welcomed on the tarmac by Governor-General Foyler Salim.

Shortly after, they had the honor of meeting Belizean Prime Minister Johnny Brasinho.

This eight-day journey marks their first international trip together since the pandemic began, and it promises to be both exciting and significant.

Their itinerary includes visits to Jamaica and the Bahamas, highlighting the royal family's enduring connections with the Caribbean.

Accompanying them is a sizable entourage of 15, including a hairdresser, private secretaries, and a press team.

While the allure of sun-soaked beaches and turquoise waters is tempting, the couple has important diplomatic work ahead.

In January, Prince Charles attended a ceremony in Barbados where the Queen was formally removed as the head of state, setting a precedent that could influence other nations.

Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness has expressed intentions to follow suit, placing William and Kate in a delicate position as they navigate these changes.

Despite the challenges, the Cambridges are skilled in charm and diplomacy.

This trip aims to reinforce the royal family's long-standing ties with Caribbean nations.

A spokesperson noted that the countries on their itinerary share a warm relationship with Her Majesty, emphasizing the importance of this visit.

William's connection to Belize runs deep; he visited the country two decades ago during his army jungle training.

According to a palace spokesperson, this tour will serve as a nostalgic journey for the Duke.

The last royal visit to Belize occurred ten years ago when celebrated the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with memorable moments, including dancing at a street party.

During that visit, Harry's charisma won over many, including Bob Marley's widow, Rita, who famously called him a “gift from God.”

He also had a lighthearted race with Usain Bolt, while former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, who had been vocal about seeking an apology from Britain for slavery, couldn't help but giggle in his presence.

Will and Kate's trip is inspired by William's grandmother, II, as she celebrates 70 years on the throne.
