Royal Family Website Drops Prince Harry’s HRH Title
In a significant update, the Royal Family's official website has removed references to Prince Harry's His Royal Highness title.
This change comes in the wake of ongoing adjustments following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
While Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have not formally relinquished their HRH titles, the website now only refers to Harry as “the Duke” or “the Duke of Sussex.”
The Express reported that the update was made after they discovered that Harry was still listed as His Royal Highness in his biography.
The Royal Family quickly acted to correct this, opting for a more streamlined reference to Harry's title.
This amendment reflects the couple's decision to step back from royal duties in 2020, even though they retain their dukedom.
Interestingly, the Royal Family's website is still in the midst of updates since the Queen's death.
Many pages remain outdated, with references to Queen Elizabeth as the reigning monarch and King Charles still being referred to as the Prince of Wales.
The site boasts over 5,000 pages detailing the family's history and activities, but it appears that the review process is ongoing.
When Harry and Meghan announced their intention to leave royal duties, they made it clear that they would still be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in official contexts.
Since relocating to California, they have often introduced themselves simply as Harry and Meghan, signaling their desire for a more private life away from royal obligations.
Despite stepping back, Harry remains fifth in line to the throne.
After Queen Elizabeth's passing in September, the succession line remained unchanged.
However, there have been adjustments regarding the titles of Harry and Meghan's children.
Following King Charles's ascension, Archie and Lilibet's titles were altered to reflect their royal status.
In March, the palace officially changed the titles of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet from Master and Miss Mountbatten-Windsor to their royal designations.
This shift aligns with the precedent set by King George V in 1917, which allowed male-line descendants of the monarch to hold the title of Prince or Princess.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed that their children's titles were automatically granted upon King Charles's coronation.
This development underscores the evolving nature of royal titles and the impact of recent changes within the monarchy.
As the Royal Family continues to adjust to new realities, the removal of Prince Harry's HRH title from the website marks another step in redefining the roles of its members.
It highlights the ongoing transition within the monarchy as it navigates the complexities of modern royal life.
With the passing of the Queen and the rise of King Charles, the Royal Family is in a period of reflection and change.
Each update on the website serves as a reminder of the shifting dynamics and the need to keep the public informed about the family's current status.
