Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Explore Ancient Maya Ruins in Belize

On the third day of their Caribbean tour, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took a more laid-back approach, opting for casual attire as they delved into the rich history of Belize.

and donned khaki trousers for their excursion to the ancient Maya ruins of Caracol, a site that boasts a history stretching back to 1200 BC.

Kate, looking effortlessly stylish, paired her G-Star Raw trousers—priced at £70—with a simple white t-shirt from John Lewis.

She completed her look with trendy Superga white trainers and gold hoop earrings, embodying a perfect blend of comfort and chic.

The couple's choice of clothing reflected their desire to engage fully with the environment around them.

The royal couple was guided through the site by Alan Moore, Associate Director of Belize's Institute of Archaeology.

He shared fascinating insights about the ruins, including the impressive Incarna, or Sky Palace.

This towering structure, standing at 141 feet, is the tallest man-made edifice in Belize and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Caracol was once a bustling city, home to approximately 150,000 inhabitants during its peak, serving as a royal residence and temple for the Maya civilization.

The site was rediscovered in the 1930s by a logger in search of mahogany, revealing a treasure trove of ancient history.

During their tour, Moore pointed out various ancient carvings, prompting the couple to identify shapes resembling lizards, fish, and even a jaguar.

The couple's curiosity was evident as they explored the intricacies of the site, pointing out details and engaging with the history that surrounded them.

One particularly interesting area showcased where the ancient Maya played ball games, a significant cultural activity of the time.

Kate was animated as she gestured towards the site, clearly fascinated by the stories embedded within the ruins.

As they climbed up the steep steps of Karna, the couple paused to take in the stunning vistas.

With hands on their hips, they looked out over the lush landscape, and Kate couldn't help but exclaim, “Wow!”

The sheer beauty of the view left them both in awe.

Moore, ever the knowledgeable guide, mentioned that many visitors challenge themselves to race up the steps.
