Prince William and David Attenborough Unite for Groundbreaking Environmental Series

In an exciting collaboration, Prince William and Sir David Attenborough are set to present a new BBC documentary series that aims to spotlight innovative solutions to urgent climate challenges.

Titled “The Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet,” the show will feature pioneers recognized for their groundbreaking efforts in environmental conservation.

The Duke of Cambridge, who resides at Kensington Palace with his family, expressed a hopeful message in the trailer for the series.

He stated, “This is a moment for hope, not fear.”

This sentiment echoes the very foundation of the Earthshot Prize, a global initiative he launched in October 2020 through the Royal Foundation.

The five-part series will dive into conversations with the winners of this prestigious prize, showcasing their remarkable contributions to the planet.

William emphasized the significance of the Earthshot Prize, calling it “the most ambitious environmental prize in history.”

His vision is to inspire a decade of action aimed at repairing our planet.

The series draws inspiration from John F. Kennedy's iconic Moonshot project, which propelled humanity's achievements into new frontiers.

Earlier this month, the Prince unveiled 15 finalists from around the world.

Among them is a 14-year-old girl from India who ingeniously designed a solar-powered ironing cart.

Additionally, Costa Rica was recognized for its innovative program that compensates citizens for restoring natural ecosystems.

A noteworthy mention goes to a Chinese app that empowers users to hold polluters accountable for their actions.

The BBC series is scheduled to premiere on October 3rd, with each episode dedicated to tackling a specific environmental issue.

Topics will include protecting and restoring nature, addressing climate change, combating air pollution, revitalizing oceans, and managing waste.

This timely release aligns perfectly with the lead-up to the United Nations' COP26 climate summit, set to take place in Glasgow starting November 1st.

Jason North, the chief executive of the Royal Foundation, expressed his hopes for the series, stating that he aims to inspire viewers through unprecedented programming.

He remarked, “Over an unprecedented two-week period, television and radio audiences will be inspired by what we believe is some of the most innovative environmental programming that has ever been created.”
