This conversation was part of the latest issue of Nursing Times, released to coincide with International Day of the Midwife, a day dedicated to celebrating the vital role midwives play in healthcare.

She paired the vibrant jacket with a simple black top and styled her hair in a graceful half-updo.

This interview is particularly significant as it marks the culmination of Nursing Now, a three-year global initiative led by the Duchess to uplift the status and visibility of nurses worldwide.

Harriet Nager, the founder of Milkat, a community organization in Nansana, Uganda, shared insights into her vital work.

Milkat focuses on providing essential support for vulnerable women and girls, addressing pressing issues like high maternal mortality rates, teenage pregnancies, and domestic violence.

During their discussion, Harriet highlighted the numerous challenges she encounters daily, including transportation hurdles in remote areas that hinder access to healthcare.

She passionately described the efforts of her organization to tackle these issues through tailored s–ual reproductive health advice and dedicated support for marginalized adolescents.

Nursing Now has played a crucial role in supporting Harriet's mission, connecting her with a network of global health leaders and helping her build self-confidence.

Notably, with backing from the UK's Burdett Trust for Nursing, Harriet participated in the Nightingale Challenge leadership program, which aims to provide training and development opportunities for fellow midwives, nurses, and health professionals.

The Nursing Now campaign was launched by in February 2018 at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, setting the stage for a transformative journey in nursing.

Last year, the Duchess celebrated International Day of the Nurse by video-calling nurses across seven Commonwealth countries, expressing gratitude for their unwavering dedication during the pandemic.

Over the past three years, more than 31,000 young professionals have enrolled in the Nightingale Challenge, a testament to the campaign's impact.
