Megan Markle’s Bold Move: A Request for Harry at the 2024 BAFTAs

In a surprising twist, has reportedly asked to make room for her husband, , at the upcoming BAFTA Film Awards.

This request comes as the Prince of Wales is focused on caring for his wife, Kate, who is currently recovering from abdominal surgery.

The BAFTA nominations have just been announced, and the excitement is building for the ceremony set to take place on February 18th at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

This year's BAFTAs are shaping up to be quite the event, with Christopher Nolan's highly acclaimed film “Oppenheimer” leading the pack with the most nominations.

Following closely behind are “Poor Things” and “Killers of the Flower Moon,” both of which have garnered significant attention.

The awards will be broadcast exclusively in the UK on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with international audiences able to catch the action on Britbox across several countries, including the US, Canada, and Australia.

Despite the impressive lineup of films, one notable absence from the nominations is the Netflix series featuring Meghan and Harry.

This exclusion means the couple won't be attending the prestigious awards ceremony, which isn't exactly shocking given that serves as BAFTA's president.

Rumor has it that Harry had hoped to attend and even preside over the event, especially since his brother is occupied with royal duties while Kate recovers.

Sources close to the situation suggest that this idea originated with Meghan, who sees the BAFTAs as a prime opportunity to reconnect with Hollywood A-listers.

With a star-studded guest list expected, Meghan is eager to seize the moment on the red carpet.

If Kate were in good health, she would likely have accompanied William to the ceremony, but circumstances have dictated otherwise.

The Daily Mail recently reported that Prince William is likely to skip the BAFTAs, along with other engagements, to support Kate during her recovery.

Kensington Palace confirmed that she underwent a successful operation and is currently being treated in the hospital.

In light of this, William has decided to prioritize family over official duties, postponing several events, including the BAFTAs.

William's commitment to his family means he will also miss out on the Six Nations Championship, which kicks off shortly after the BAFTAs.

As the patron of the Welsh rugby team, his absence will be felt during this exciting tournament.

The championship begins on February 2nd, featuring matches like France versus Ireland and England facing Italy.

In addition to the BAFTAs and the Six Nations, William was scheduled to carry out investitures throughout January and February, but those plans have also been put on hold.

It's expected that Prince Hassan will step in to fulfill some of these duties in William's absence.

Last year, William made an appearance at the BAFTAs, showcasing his role as president of the Academy, a position he has held since 2010.

His absence this year marks a significant shift, particularly as he balances his royal responsibilities with family needs.

Just last week, William made headlines by presenting rugby legend Rob Burrow with his CBE, but it seems the upcoming BAFTAs will not feature him in any capacity.
