Royal Embarrassment: Prince Harry’s Journey to Freedom

, who was born and raised in the United Kingdom as the second son of Prince Charles and , has recently found himself at the center of controversy.

Despite growing up with all the privileges that come with his royal status, Harry has confessed to feeling embarrassed by his position.

This feeling of discomfort reportedly pushed him towards seeking a life of freedom away from the royal spotlight.

In a surprising turn of events in January 2020, and his wife, , announced their decision to step down as senior royals.

While many have blamed Meghan for influencing Harry's choice, the prince himself revealed on the Armchair Expert podcast that he had been contemplating leaving royal life since his early 20s.

“I don't want this job, I don't want to be here,” Harry expressed candidly.

Following their decision, Harry and Meghan relocated to California, settling in a home in Montecito.

The ongoing pandemic and tensions within the royal family have limited Harry's visits back to the UK, with Meghan not returning since their move to the US.

According to author Christopher Anderson, Harry's discomfort with his royal status has always been a driving force behind his desire for a more ordinary life in the US.

Anderson noted that Harry's marriage to Meghan further solidified his attraction to American life.

Unlike his father, Prince Charles, who struggled to blend in with the common folk, Harry has always sought to fit in as an everyday person.

His military service from 2005 to 2015, which included deployments to Afghanistan, showcased his desire for a life beyond royal obligations.

's biographer, Andrew Morton, weighed in on the couple's departure, describing Meghan as a team player who made genuine efforts to integrate into the royal family.

Morton emphasized the loss the royal family experienced with Meghan's exit, stating that she and Harry represented a demographic that the royals struggled to connect with.

Their independence and determination to forge their own path indicate that a return to royal duties is unlikely in the foreseeable future.

In a significant announcement in February 2021, the palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would not resume their roles as working members of the royal family.

This decision solidified Harry and Meghan's commitment to charting their own course and living life on their terms, away from the constraints of traditional royal expectations.
