TV Host Criticizes Meghan Markle’s New Children’s Book

A TV host recently stirred up controversy by deviating from the script to express her skepticism towards 's upcoming children's book release.

Titled “The Bench,” the book delves into the heartwarming narrative of the bond between a father and son, drawing inspiration from Meghan's husband Harry and their son .

Scheduled for publication by Random House Children's Books on June 8, the picture book features illustrations by acclaimed artist Christian Robinson, with Meghan herself set to narrate the audiobook version.

During a segment on Australia Today, host Alison Langdon candidly revealed her lack of enthusiasm for the Duchess of Sussex's latest literary venture.

Disregarding the suggested comparison of Meghan to renowned children's authors like Roald Dahl and J.K. Rowling, Langdon openly expressed her differing opinion, dismissing the parallels as a considerable “stretch.”

Her unfiltered reaction extended to the announcement that Meghan would be personally narrating the audiobook, prompting Langdon to sarcastically remark, “Can you imagine anything better?

I mean, pop it on in the car, pop it on at home when you're cooking dinner.

Meghan's dulcet tones.”

Meghan shared in a press statement that the idea for “The Bench” originated from a poem she penned for Harry on Father's Day shortly after 's birth, evolving into the heartwarming tale it is today.

Langdon's co-host couldn't contain his laughter as he joined in teasing the Duchess, humorously suggesting, “They actually write poetry together.”

Notably, another vocal critic of the book emerged in the form of Piers Morgan, who branded Meghan a “shameless money grabber” in his scathing column for the Daily Mail.

Morgan argued against Meghan's credibility in writing about father-child relationships, highlighting her strained relationship with her own father, Thomas, whom she has distanced herself from despite their close proximity.

In response to the criticism, Meghan reiterated her hope that “The Bench” resonates with families of all backgrounds, mirroring the significance it holds for her own family.

The book's anticipated success is bolstered by the unwavering support of Meghan's fans, many of whom have pledged to purchase multiple copies to show their backing for the Duchess.

As the release date approaches, the controversy surrounding Meghan's foray into children's literature continues to spark debate and intrigue among audiences worldwide.
