For many couples, deciding where to spend Christmas can be a challenging decision.

Before their marriage, royal tradition dictated that Princess Kate could not spend Christmas with the royals at Sandringham, leading to the couple spending December 25th apart.

In 2006, after years of dating, the couple had plans to spend the New Year together.

However, according to revelations from a book titled “The Making of a Royal Romance” by Katie Nicholl, Princess Kate was left devastated when unexpectedly cancelled their arrangements at the last minute.

This turn of events left Kate deeply concerned about the future of their relationship.

The book, published in 2011, details how Princess Kate received the news of the cancellation over the phone on Boxing Day.

It is reported that Prince William had been grappling with doubts and sought advice from his father and grandmother regarding his future with Kate.

Both advised him against rushing into any decisions, leading to a period of uncertainty in their relationship.

In 2008, the couple briefly parted ways, a decision that reportedly disappointed the late II.

However, their separation was short-lived, as Prince William and were soon seen sharing a kiss at an army party at Barracks in Bovington, Dorset.

Additionally, Kate's extended family, including her younger brother James Middleton, attended the concert for Diana at Wembley, commemorating the 10th anniversary of her passing.
