Princess Catherine Named Honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards

King Charles III has bestowed a new title upon his daughter-in-law, Princess Catherine, appointing her as the Honorary Colonel of the esteemed Irish Guards.

This prestigious royal role is a perfect fit for the Princess of Wales, who has been actively involved in honoring the Guards Regiment during the annual St. Patrick's Day celebrations since her marriage into the royal family in 2011.

During the parade festivities, Princess Kate typically adorns herself in a vibrant green ensemble to warmly welcome the Irish Guards.

The event also features some delightful traditions, including the presence of the regimental mascot, the Irish wolfhound Talamore, affectionately known as Seamus, and a ceremonial toast with the iconic Irish stout, Guinness.

Interestingly, Princess Kate is stepping into a role previously held by someone very close to her heart – her husband, Prince William.

Back in 2011, Queen Elizabeth appointed Prince William as the Honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, just a couple of months before the grand royal wedding of Kate and William, where the groom donned the striking red Irish Guards officer uniform during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

In a significant announcement made shortly after the passing of Queen Elizabeth on September 8, King Charles revealed a new royal title for his son.

Prince William has been designated as the Colonel of the Welsh Guards, aligning perfectly with his existing title as the Prince of Wales.

Adding to the list of new royal titles, Queen Camilla has also been honored by her husband with the role of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

This prestigious appointment was previously held by Prince Andrew, but was revoked by his late mother due to the scandal surrounding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

The recent appointments of the new colonels have helped resolve some lingering questions following Prince Andrew's removal from his position.
