King Charles III Plans to Remove Prince Harry from Official Duty Amid Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral

III is reportedly considering changing a law that would require his official stand-ins to be active members of the royal family.

Currently, the law permits the first four adults in line for the throne to act as councillors of state in the absence of the monarch.

This includes individuals like and , but III aims to alter this arrangement, according to sources.

The 1937 Regency Act stipulates that the spouse of the monarch and the next four adults in line to the throne can step in as councillors of state if necessary.

Although such a scenario is rare, it has occurred in the past.

Recently, II had Prince Charles and Prince William represent her at the state opening of Parliament.

and Prince Andrew were also listed as potential councillors of state.

With the current lineup of Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, and as the first four in line for the throne, there is a concern that three non-working royals could potentially fulfill the role of councillors of state.

Recognizing this inconsistency, King Charles III aims to amend the law promptly to include his brother, Prince Edward, and his sister, Princess Anne, as eligible stand-ins.

Furthermore, there is a possibility that King Charles III might propose changes to allow individuals outside the line of succession, such as Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, to serve as councillors of state.

Any modification to the law would need approval from the Houses of Parliament, following the historical protocol of amendments proposed by members of Parliament in response to a formal message from the monarch.

Following II's passing, King Charles III, aged 73, has ascended to the throne, with the queen's funeral scheduled for Monday.

The procession will include Prince William and Kate Middleton's children, Prince George and , alongside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The funeral, starting at 11 a.m. GMT, will see King Charles and leading the procession, culminating in the queen's burial at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support, King Charles III acknowledged the overwhelming messages of condolence received from around the world.

In a statement before the funeral, he thanked those who paid their respects, emphasizing the importance of their comfort during this period of mourning.

Amid preparations for the funeral, reports emerged that Prince Harry felt devastated when the queen's initials were removed from his military uniform while Prince Andrew retained the royal cipher.

This development, coupled with perceived exclusion from certain aspects of the proceedings, left Prince Harry feeling disheartened, according to sources close to him.

Reflecting on the challenges faced during this time, a friend shared that Prince Harry's emotions were deeply affected by the removal of his grandmother's initials, interpreting it as a deliberate act that intensified his sense of alienation amidst the mourning process.
