Royal Family Gathers to Mourn Queen’s Death
The new Princess of Wales, Kate, recently shared a touching moment involving her son, Prince Louis, and his reaction to the Queen's passing.
Alongside her husband Prince William, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Kate made an unexpected appearance on the Long Walk in Windsor.
The royal group visited Windsor Castle to pay their respects and engage with well-wishers.
Among the crowd was 28-year-old Bernita Ranno, who overheard Kate recounting Louis' poignant words about the Queen's death to some nearby children.
According to Ranno, Kate revealed that young Louis had remarked, “At least Granny is with great-grandpa now.”
The emotional exchange left Kate visibly moved, as she conversed with the children standing by her side.
Four-year-old Louis is one of the Queen and late Prince Philip's 12 great-grandchildren.
Earlier this year, he was photographed alongside his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, during the late monarch's Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Buckingham Palace.
In a statement released by Louis' father, Prince William, he emphasized the special bond his three children shared with the Queen.
William expressed gratitude for the cherished memories his children had created during holidays spent with their great-grandmother.
The statement was issued following a rare moment of unity among William, Harry, Kate, and Meghan.
The four royals set aside their differences to visit the tributes and messages left by the public in honor of the Queen, who passed away at the age of 96.
The decision for the joint appearance was reportedly initiated by William, who extended a personal invitation to his brother and sister-in-law.
Both couples were staying in Windsor at the time.
The gathering marked the first public sighting of William and Kate since being bestowed the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales by the new King Charles in his recent address to the nation.
Notably, this event also marked the first public appearance of the two couples together since the Commonwealth Day service in early 2020, which served as the Sussexes' final royal engagement before stepping back from their royal duties.
Speculation about tensions within the royal family has been rife, particularly regarding the relationship between the brothers.
Meghan previously claimed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that Kate made her cry, while Harry expressed concerns about William feeling trapped.
Earlier in the day, William attended the Accession Council, where his father, Charles, was officially proclaimed as the new monarch in a solemn ceremony.
Accompanied by the new Queen Consort Camilla and over 200 privy councillors, including six former Prime Ministers, the King accepted the weighty responsibilities of sovereignty.
Meanwhile, at Balmoral, other members of the Queen's family gathered to view the tributes and greet well-wishers at the Scottish Highlands estate where the monarch passed away.
